The story of Stout’s Metal Products starts before the business was even officially established in 1985.
It actually begins decades earlier…
Ken Stout was a ship builder. He crafted vessels at the Navy Yards in both Camden and Philadelphia. Around 1960, with steady hands and a craftsman’s eye, he opened his own ornamental shop in Atco.
Ken’s son Larry grew up in that world. The hum of welders, the glow of sparks, the pride of building something that would last. For Larry, these weren’t just memories, they were lessons.
Larry started working alongside his father at age 16, learning the trade, and more importantly the values behind it: patience, precision, and pride in every detail.
When Ken retired, Larry found work in different places, gaining experience, sharpening his skills, and carrying with him everything his father had taught him.
In 1984, Larry and his wife Julianne purchased a 300 year old home in Collingswood, NJ with a workspace building in the back that had served many purposes prior.

An old ice house from the 1880s.
A storage for Green Valley Farm trailers.
A chicken coop for a chicken farm.
And now… a place to craft iron and steel.
In 1985, Stout’s Metal Products was born.
It wasn’t a large operation. In the beginning, it was just Larry and his wife Julliane—working side by side. He was in the shop, welding and fabricating. She was the voice on the phone, the keeper of the books, the steady force behind the scenes. Together, they built a business—and a foundation rooted in dedication and excellence that they could pass on through generations.
Then came the next generation.
In 1990, Larry Jr. graduated high school and picked up the torch—literally. Larry Jr. began shaping metal alongside his father, adding his own strength and creativity to their growing story.
And today, Larry III has joined the business, bringing the same level of hard work and dedication as his father and grandfather.
Stout’s Metal Products proudly stands as a fourth-generation family business, carried forward by Larry Sr., Larry Jr., and Larry III. Three generations working side by side, united by the same purpose: to create, to serve, and to carry on a tradition of craftsmanship that few can claim.

And while their craftsmanship is undeniable, it’s who they are that truly sets them apart.
They are patient. Productive. Focused.
They are the kind of people who stay until the job is done right.
They are people pleasers. The kind who go the extra mile—not because they have to, but because they wouldn't want it any other way.
You may have even seen their work. The railings for the Scottish Rite Auditorium. The steel pipes on the Camden dock for the Battleship New Jersey. And the custom iron gate for former Eagles Linebacker, Jeremiah Trotter.
Their work has even been recognized in the local Courier Post newspaper.
Clients don’t just compliment their work—they talk about the experience. The friendliness. The genuine concern for their needs. The attention to safety. The feeling that they’re not just another job, but part of something personal.
In a world that moves fast, Stout’s Metal Products remains deeply family-oriented. Not just within their own team, but in how they treat every customer they serve.

But ask them why they do it—and the answer is simple.
They do it to carry on the family passion.
To preserve the art.
To make quality metal work that people can rely on for years to come.
Because at Stout’s Metal Products, this isn’t just a business.
It’s a story—four generations strong—and still being written.
